Topographic & Utility Survey | Bradford

Introduction

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Client: Confidential (Private Client)
Sector: Pre-Development Survey
Services: Topographic Survey & Underground Utility Mapping
Duration: 1 day on site
Equipment Used: Leica GNSS, Total Station, GPR, EML

Project Overview

Brookes Geospatial was instructed to undertake a combined topographic and utility survey in Bradford to support the early stages of a private development. The client required both surface level detail and underground service mapping to inform architectural design and reduce risk during construction.

Despite being a short-notice request, we mobilised quickly and deployed both our topographic and utility teams on the same day—maximising efficiency and reducing disruption for the client.

Scope of Work

  • Full topographic survey including levels, boundaries, features, and surrounding context

  • Underground utility mapping of key services (e.g. water, gas, electric, comms)

  • Survey conducted using:

    • Leica GNSS & Total Station for surface mapping

    • GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) and EML (Electromagnetic Locator) for service tracing

  • All captured despite challenging weather conditions

Outcome

The project was completed with a fast turnaround under tight scheduling conditions. By coordinating both survey teams on-site simultaneously, we minimised delays and delivered a comprehensive, multi-layered site plan ready for early-stage decision-making.

Our client appreciated the flexibility, professionalism, and resilience of our team—even in less-than-ideal weather.
