Brookes Geospatial was appointed by a confidential client to complete a detailed topographical survey and measured building elevations at Athletic Street in Burnley.
The topographical survey recorded the site layout, levels, road frontage, hardstanding, vegetation and visible external features surrounding the existing buildings.
The survey scope also included six building elevations, creating a coordinated record of the existing façades, openings, cladding, roof lines and other relevant external details.

The value of the survey was in bringing the external site information and the building façades together within the same measured package.
Site levels and topographical detail established the relationship between the buildings, surrounding hardstanding and adjacent highway environment.
The elevation survey then added the vertical building information needed to understand the existing façades and external geometry, producing a clearer existing-condition record than either survey would provide on its own.

Scope review
The survey extent and required topographical and elevation information were reviewed before fieldwork.
Survey control
A consistent control framework provided the spatial reference for both the site survey and building elevations.
Topographical survey
Levels, boundaries, highway detail, hardstanding, vegetation and visible site features were captured across the survey area.
Elevation capture
Existing building façades were measured to record openings, external details, roof lines and changes in form.
CAD production
Field observations were processed into a coordinated topographical drawing and six measured elevation drawings.
QA & issue
The completed drawings were reviewed together so the plan and elevation information formed one consistent survey package.
